Matt and his Barts Tree Service crew took down 7 trees and they way more than exceeded my expectations with their expertise, professionalism and how much they love doing their job the right way the first time. I had a very large tree in my front yard that was finally starting to fail as well as another large tree in my back yard that was posing a danger to our community path. I couldn't believe how such a seemingly dangerous job turned out to appear quite easy for Barts to handle, so I truly recommend Barts to anyone who wants their expectations to be exceeded. Extraordinary Service!!! Excellent Price... I originally heard about Bart's Tree Service through my son-in-law, who knew Matt. I cannot say enough good things about Matt and his crew. They are professional, honest, hard-working, and do everything they promise, and at a very fair price, I might add.... We originally contracted in April to cut down some hickory trees that had been a thorn in my side for years... Unbeknownst to everyone, the May 15th storm hit the area big-time...so our small project had to wait until now to get done, but it was certainly worth the wait. The guys got the work done very quickly, efficiently, and even managed to cut down some additional trees in our woods which had been damaged by the storm. They cleaned up the yard so well, that you would never even know they had been there...I am a perfectionist by nature, so the fact that I was thrilled with my yard again, says a lot... Thanks again Matt and crew, for a job well done!!! We will definitely recommend you to others and will use you again for future projects...

Recently, I used Bart's to trim a tree and take down two others. Matt estimated it would take four hours. When Matt showed up, I asked him to take down four more large branches from another tree(which added 30 minutes). When all work was completed, including the additional work, it still took only four hours. His men were professional and efficient and did an excellent job. Best of all, his price was reasonable. I will definitely use them in the future.

I contacted Matt for an estimate to trim/shape 3 large maple trees at my home. He submitted a reasonable quotation/proposal and immediately provided copies of his CT licensing and insurance certification. He and his men arrived to perform the work on time and commenced working without delay. They placed protective mats on the lawn before bring their "spyder" lift onto the property to prevent digging up my lawn and very importantly my neighbor's lawn. They completed the work several hours later without a hitch. The trees look great . Without that "spyder", I seriously doubt the job would have turned out as well: quite an impressive piece of equipment to watch in action. Bottom line: if you need tree work and want it done by a licensed and insured arborist who charges reasonable rates, and employs dedicated hard-working employees, look no further.

Once again Matt and his crew came through for Bill and I when we needed to have some trees removed. This time—October 30th—it was more of an emergency, because following a long, scary day and night of howling winds and heavy rain, a tall white oak tree crashed down across our driveway, blocking the car in. We called on Matt for help the next morning, and he and his crew came that same day. Matt and his trusty Bart’s crew came quickly, removed the fallen tree, plus another smaller tree that required removal. They always leave the site in a clean and orderly condition. They have never disappointed. We will absolutely continue to call on Matt and his team at Bart’s whenever we need to have trees removed.

We live on a lakefront property with a steep topography making tree and landscape work difficult. Bart's gave us a fair estimate, arrived promptly and on schedule and did a fabulous job removing trees, shrubs, large limbs with a perfect clean up. I live on a property with many trees, and I contacted Bart's Tree Service this month (January 2017) when I noticed a damaged tall white oak on my property. The first time I used Bart's Tree Service was in the spring of 2015, and I was impressed with Bart's good service at that time--so I contacted Bart's again to get help with my new tree problem. The owner, Matt, came the next day to see the tree in question and evaluate its condition. I had no idea trees could be removed in the winter, but Matt's hardworking crew came a week later and removed the injured tree. They also cleaned up some fallen branches as requested, and removed lots of sucker twigs that had sprung up from underground tree roots that I had also asked to have removed. Matt's team was efficient and well organized, and did a really fine job. Now things look clean and neat. The costs are reasonable, and, because of all the many trees on my property, I will no doubt be using Bart's Tree Service again in the future.

We recently used Barts to remove two large trees on our property. This appeared to be a complicated endeavor as the trees were adjacent to the house. Barts assured us this would not be a problem, a crane was brought in to assist with the removal. We highly recommend Barts Tree Service. They were respectful, very hardworking and went above and beyond, exceeding our expectations. They removed 5 large trees plus saplings and wood chipped them all - arriving early morning and all finished by late afternoon. We were at the start of having a new house constructed and advised by one of the contractors to have a number of large trees removed before proceeding. When Matt came out to give us a quote, I explained how construction had now come to a standstill until the trees were removed. We were worried about the delay, needing to have the house built and weather tight incase of an early winter. He did, as promised, squeeze us into their busy schedule within two days. We were on a tight budget and he also worked with us , giving us a very fair price. Matt is professional, courteous and very knowledgeable. Excellent communication, always responding in a timely manner. We will definitely be calling him again for future work.

The entire work crew, from owner Matt Bartelme and all of the other men, are extremely professional and talented. They performed miracles in removing a tree that fell on our neighbor's deck in a windstorm. Matt rearranged his schedule to get to the house the next day, and navigated our difficult, steep driveway to get the necessary equipment to the site. Then, after a long day, Matt returned the next morning to clean up the last of the woodchips that had spilled from the truck on the way up the driveway the night before. I wouldn't have anyone else work on trees at our property.

Last fall we had many large pine trees cut down and the stumps have been an eyesore ever since. I found Barts online at random, read the reviews, then called. Matt called back the next day, stopped by to see the work, gave a very good price to remove the stumps, and I gave him the job. Matt also recommended to remove 2 other very old large stumps on the other side of the yard that I forgot about. He came to do the work much earlier than I thought. In all 13 large pine and 2 huge hardwood stumps were removed. The job was completed in about 1/2 day and was very professional from beginning to end. I have used Bart's tree service and was extremely pleased. The crew was very conscious of the fact huge trees were near the house and carefully took down leafed trees without falling on the house or ruining what little lawn I do have.
This time cleanup of falling over trees and an a large dead ash and cedar were removed. On the other side of the house this crew pulled through my lawn long pieces of the fallen-over trees and made a deep long ridge in my lawn. Blowing the dirt did not fix it. In total, I am WELL PLEASED with the overall job. AND have given Bart's card to my surrounding neighbors. His pricing is very reasonable for all the work that is done.

I happened to see a sign for Bart's Tree Service stump grinding. I called and got a call back and a visit for an estimate THE SAME DAY. That is almost unheard of....I got an estimate for them to grind two large stumps and also for some tree trimming. Within a week all of the work was complete. Everyone on the crew was great. Nice guys. Great job. I'll be keeping Bart's Tree Service on speed dial for any future tree work.

This company is by far one of the best experiences we have ever had as home owners ! Matt, the owner came to give us an estimate for pruning our apple orchard. He pointed out that it had been done wrong in the past and explained what needed to be done. He spent time showing us what we could do to to save money in the future. We have used Barts Tree Service on a couple of occasions. Let's face it, tree removal isn't cheap, but neither is a new roof, or driveway when tree roots cause it to buckle. It's best to have someone with the right equipment and knowledge. Matt is prompt in returning calls or answering any questions, professional and overall the prices are fair. Overall I would highly recommend this company if you are looking for any tree or stump removal.

Called Bart's Monday morning after my wife heard a bad cracking noise coming from a large maple tree that towers over our kitchen. We were both worried the tree would fall on our roof. Matt came over that afternoon, examined the tree and recommended that a cable be installed to stabilize the tree. A few days later, his crew installed the cable and trimmed a few branches. We were most relieved at his quick response in assisting us and how neatly the job was done. Highly recommended.

The whole experience was really good.Part of it was luck: Matt was on his way past our neighborhood when I called about the work, and he was able to stop shortly after I called. The price was within the budget, and even though it was a busy time, he was able to get us into the schedule in under a week, which, since it wasn't an emergency job, was much better than I expected.The work wasn't terribly complicated although one tree and some branches were close to the house, and there was a branch over a power line. The crew was obviously experienced and had worked with one another for some time. They were careful and quick in cutting and removing trees and branches, and the clean up was outstanding--they picked up stuff I normally leave on the ground.

I've worked with several tree firms in the four homes I've lived in, and I can honestly say that Bart's Tree Service is extraordinary.I am very pleased with the efficient and professional work performed by Matt and his servicemen. I needed a variety of work, from pruning to removal throughout the property. As a couple men were in the trees cutting, another was dragging out to the chipper. Still others were working on another part of the yard. All was done very professionally. They were also very neat. The yard was left very neat and clean. All work requested was performed. I have been enjoying some of the "air space" now available to me. Matt and his men were also very knowledgeable of the environment, trees, of course, and the best way to accomplish the requests. I first used Bart's Tree service in 2013 to take down a large catalpa that was splitting at the base. Bart understood our concerns about the septic and his team carefully took down the tree without having any of the trunks go near the septic. They cleaned up the property after the job and did a great job.I contacted Bart again this summer to do more work on our property and his team did an excellent job and coordinated with our excavation crew. Matt is responsive, shows up and provides clear communication on what will be done and when his team will be there. Highly recommended and will continue to use them!

Bart's Tree Service offers a skilled crew with access to all the equipment and techniques to efficiently do the largest jobs. They have a bucket truck, crane, wood chipper, several tree climbers and are skilled with ropes and pulleys. They carefully removed several large trees which were precariously over my house. I watched in awe. Fair price and good communication. I highly recommend them and would use them again.

Fantastic Professional crew, prompt service. After the removal you couldn't tell any work done - the area was left spotless, including driveway where chipping was done. You may find some others for less money but none as expert and professional. Would not hesitate to recommend or use again. We will only go with Barts Tree Service, Danbury

Removed trees damaged by hurricane Sandy and ground several stumps on property. Provided an estimate that was very fair, came on the date we had set and did the work promptly and efficiently. This was the third time I had used Barts Tree Service. They are by far the best in the state!

Cut down 4 trees - a storm-damaged tree leaning on another, and 2 small ones in close proximity. Left the wood, in fireplace-sized logs in the woods; chipped branches and blew them in the woods. Cleaned up debris.
The job went very well. Barts was the only provider who said they would not need to get a truck on our lawn, and therefore there was no need to cut branches of trees that were on the path from the driveway to the backyard. The job was done as discussed and per written estimate. We were not present during the job but were very satisfied with the results. Owner, Matthew Bartelme, is very professional, personable, and very responsive. I will definitely use him for all our future tree work. I would recommend him highly.

Excellent job from quote to clean-up!
We decided on Matt (Barts Tree Service) after getting quotes from several different services (most deliver firewood in the area or did tree work for neighbors). Matt gave us the options we wanted (removing the brush, but leaving the tree cut up on site, since we burn wood for heat), had confidence in doing the job (tree was a large oak hanging over the house, inaccessible by bucket truck) and gave us a competitive quote. One tree service was nearly double the price and another simply refused to do the job.
Matt was easily reachable by phone and email and scheduled the job around the snowy weather and dealt with difficulties on our property (cars in driveway, hard to get to area where the base of the tree was).
The job was done during a single day (ahead of schedule), logs were left neatly stacked, brush was removed without a trace and all other debris was cleaned up. Highly recommend!

Barts Tree removed one very large tree and two smaller trees. The large tree required lowering the tree sections via cables while not affecting a garden and bluestone walkway.
I'd like to thank Matt and the team for doing an outstanding job at removing all three trees. No one would even know that you were there except that the trees are gone. It certainly pays to hire professionals and it was certainly worth the wait. Thanks again.

They cut down a huge oak that was hanging over my power lines and trimmed some other problem trees. They also cabled a very large potentially dangerous tree.
When Matt came to take a look at the work I needed done, he gave me several options and also made suggestions for taking care of some other issues that I hadn't noticed. There was no pressure and he was very patient with my questions. He gave me an estimate on the spot and stuck to that estimate when all the work was completed. When the day came, Matt arrived on time and got right to organizing his crew and telling them what was needed. They listened carefully and obviously took their jobs very seriously. There was no joking around or making a lot of noise. They were friendly but hardworking. The work was finished in half the time that I thought it would be and I could hardly notice that they'd been there at all. Everything was neat and tidy. I was very impressed.

Matt was very responsive when called for a quote. He took the time to review not only the trees we had called him for a quote as well as reviewed any needs and suggestions for others with no push to do more than what he was quoting for.
Matt called the night before we were scheduled that due to weather we needed to reschedule for the following day.
He and his team showed up promptly ready to get going. They were professional and several times when I asked a question were very responsive. The team not only eliminated the dead branches I requested but cleaned up more than I was expecting which was a nice surprise.
They cleaned up the yard and when my husband came home actually said he only knew they had been there because the trees were down, wood was stacked, and wood chips were in a pile.
I was very happy and would recommend Barts Tree Service again. Actually, already had a neighbor ask for their number to come give a quote.

We first met Matt, the owner, during Hurricane Irene. A huge pine fell on our house and our neighbor recommended Barts. We called - and he was there before the hurricane was out to sea...no exaggeration. Since then we've had Matt back several times. He is great to work with, his crew is pleasant and efficient, and the prices are great.

Hurricane Sandy toppled the top of a large hemlock onto our home, luckily it didn't damage the house. It sure looked dangerous up there and an impending snow storm would have surely reeked more havoc if it was not removed properly. I called several tree companies, Matt responded promptly, after looking it over he emailed me a professional quote to which the insurance company responded to right away. The other tree companies were slow to respond and the quotes were verbal or late in coming. Because of the location of the tree it would prove difficult to have gotten a bucket truck into place, Matt said right away no problem, don't worry about it my guys will climb the tree and take it down bit by bit. The other tree companies were insisting they would have to use a truck.
Matt has a great crew, the take down was perfect and the cleanup done right.
I plan to have him back in the future to do some more work for us.

Yes, my neighbor recommended Matt and Barts Tree Service to me. However, a strong recommendation is only the beginning because I am extremely critical when it comes to my property and the people I choose to work on it. Yes a good first impression is important, but everything that comes after that is what I care about.
Matt listened, gave good advice, a great price, and then fit me into his schedule quickly. On the day he arrived, Matt and his crew did an amazing job. I knew I had hired an expert, and he went well beyond the call of duty.
He even sculpted an awesome chair out of one of the tree stumps. Matt is a pro but he's also an artist. Hard to find these days.
Highly recommended.

Matt's Tree Service is the best! They have come twice to clear and trim trees from Hurricane Sandy and 2011's freak fall snow storm. They were very professional, knowledgeable and easy to work with. I chose them over others because I was worried about them damaging other trees by driving over their roots. They were very careful not to do this and besides cutting up several fallen trees, advised and trimmed up some others to keep them healthy and happy. My trees are very special to me and want to keep them as long as I can. They also chipped up the smaller limbs branches that we used as ground cover to keep the weeds down. I would recommend them to anyone who needs tree work done.

Barts Tree Service was recommended to me by a neighbor. I had lost several large trees during Hurricane Sandy. Matt stopped by quickly to survey the damage and provide an estimate. We asked Matt, who was doing a job next door, to look at a whole line of 60' white pines that lined our property. He listened to what trees we wanted down and which to limb up. He gave us a very fair price!
When his crew got here, they never stopped until the job was done. Every bit was chipped and cleaned up and everything looks great! He made recommendations as he went along and did all to our satisfaction.

We recently had some tree work performed by Barts Tree Service and we were very pleased. Barts Tree Service is a local business that we highly recommend.
His team was there to do the work on time and worked efficiently to get everything done. All of the scraps and limbs were cleaned up and there wasn't a branch or leaf left on my lawn.
When the crew was on the job, I decided to make even more changes. This was no problem for Matt or his crew and they were able to accommodate me without any hiccups.

Usually, when selecting a tree service, you start by asking friends, relatives, etc. Well being new to our house and area we had to take a shot on a firm we found online. I was not disappointed. Matt was directing them from his detailed notes and actually, doing a little more than was required.I have had Barts back to do additional work, and the same thing, they exceed my expectations. Hard to find in this day and age. Highly recommended.

Recently had a number of huge trees on our Ridgefield property taken down by Barts. We couldn't be more pleased. They provided a complete and accurate estimate of the cost and scope of work. My husband and I have used Barts Tree Service twice now and they are great. We had a huge tree in the middle of our driveway which at one point we thought was endearing but finally just became an obstacle to get around. The tree was very close to our house. Came down without incident, cut into lengths for firewood, ground out the stump and cleaned up impecably. Very professional, courteous, and reasonable. Would definitely use again.
