Have you ever seen an experienced arborist or tree care worker throw a line into the upper reaches of a tree, secure it, and then climb 60 feet straight up the rope? How about watching as they tie themselves in and then reach out to prune off branches high above the ground? Or perform an aerial rescue?
Each year the Connecticut Tree Protective Association (CTPA) holds the CT Tree Climbing Competition to showcase tree care safety and climbing skills. The competition will be held on Saturday, May 2 and includes such skills as:
- Secured Foot Lock
- Throw Line Accuracy
- Belayed Speed Climb
- Work Climb Station
- Aerial Rescue
- Master’s Challenge
Both male and female tree climbers who work or reside in Connecticut compete to see who will move on to the ISA New England Climbing Competition.
Barts Tree Service is proud to be a 2015 Sponsor of the CT Tree Climbing Competition.
This competition is a major test of tree climbing skills and, more importantly, highlights how critical it is to follow good safety practices. We salute all the men and women who get out there and show us how it should be done!
